Methodology
Learn Spanish through games and play
At Spanish Splash, children learn Spanish by doing, playing and communicating. Our approach focuses on understanding and using the language in meaningful situations rather than simply memorising vocabulary.
Throughout the Spanish Easter Club, children will enjoy:
- Traditional Spanish children’s games and movement activities.
- Board games, language games, guessing games and group challenges.
- Spring-themed activities exploring nature, weather, colours, plants and animals.
- Creative workshops and arts and crafts.
- Role-play and practical communication activities.
- Spanish Easter traditions, music and seasonal foods.
- Outdoor games at the nearby beach, weather permitting.
Children will practise listening, speaking, following instructions, asking questions, describing things and interacting with others in Spanish.
Practical Spanish for everyday situations
Each week has a central theme that connects the language games, creative activities and practical tasks. Children gradually build the vocabulary and expressions they need to complete a final communicative challenge.
Arts, crafts and creative activities
Creativity is an important part of our Spanish Easter holiday club. Children will use their imagination while exploring new vocabulary and communicating in Spanish.
Depending on the group’s ages, interests and needs, artistic activities may include:
- Drawing, painting, colouring and collage.
- Spring-themed crafts inspired by nature in Mallorca.
- Creative projects connected to Spanish Semana Santa traditions.
- Designs inspired by clothes, colours, patterns and personal style.
- Collaborative art projects and creative challenges.
These activities encourage children to describe their work, identify colours and materials, follow instructions and share ideas in Spanish.
Discover Spanish Easter traditions
Spanish Easter Club also introduces children to the culture and traditions associated with Semana Santa in Spain and Mallorca.
Through age-appropriate games, images, music and creative activities, children may discover:
- Spanish Holy Week processions and their traditional elements.
- Differences between Easter traditions in different parts of World.
- Traditional seasonal foods, including torrijas, crespells, robiols and panades.
- Springtime customs and nature in Mallorca.
- A simple cooking activity may be included if possible and appropriate for the group. This will depend on food allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements.
The focus is on Spanish traditions, language and culture through enjoyable activities suitable for children.
Outdoor learning and traditional Spanish games
The academy is located just 50 metres from the beach, giving us the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities when the weather and conditions allow.
Our outdoor break is also an opportunity to practise Spanish through movement and play. Games may include:
- Twister in Spanish: colours, body parts, left and right, and following instructions.
- El pañuelito: numbers, listening, attention and quick reactions.
- El patito inglés: movement, actions and spatial awareness.
- El piso (hopscotch): numbers, coordination and taking turns.
- Other traditional Spanish games and cooperative activities adapted to the group.
If the weather does not allow outdoor activities, suitable alternatives will be provided indoors.
